The Rocket Fuel challenge game was one of a series of games created for Manchester University for an event. It consisted of an interactive Flash game with an educational element. The objective of the game was to create as much "rocket fuel" as possible using solar power and a chemical reaction. The more rocket fuel you created, the further you could launch your rocket at the end of the game.
The game was displayed on 32" HD LCD monitors at the event, powered by a PC through a HDMI cable. Two interactions were created for the game; at the event everything was controlled via a Microsoft Xbox 360 controller through some clever mapping and integration. An online version was created that used keyboard and mouse controls. Both games shared the same MySQL database for the highscores, so both online and event attendees could compete with each other for the highscore.
