Falkon Digital Beard Challenge 2014

Raising money and growing face hair

This year we are doing the Falkon Digital Beard Challenge to raise money for the Mustard Tree a Manchester charity that helps the homeless and marginalised.

After several years of growing lip hair for Movember, the guys at Falkon Digital have all agreed to go for a full on beard grow for November. As a creative digital agency the boys are channelling their inner hipster to grow a beard.

Although we fully support men’s charities and cancer research, we decided this year we would choose a charity a bit closer to home and as the nights draw in and get colder our thoughts are with the homeless of Manchester.

The economic climate is still struggling and more and more people are relying on food banks and charities for clothes and shelter. In the past we have donated food and furniture to The Mustard Tree, a charity that gives help to homeless people. The Mustard Tree doesn’t just give food and clothing but also helps develop skills giving people a chance to get employment and help themselves. This is why we have decided to support this great Manchester charity.

Luke Sherran

Luke has now taken part in a charity event in November for the last 5 years, with the last 3 including growing a moustache for the recognised Men’s Health Charity Movember.  This year Luke has gone all out, by actually starting the month of November by shaving off a goatee that he has had since his early 20′s.  This was a big sacrifice, as without it Luke is convinced that his chin blends into his neck.

Luke’s biggest fear is that his facial hair is too patchy to actually grow a full beard, and that it will include brown, ginger and grey shades. Luke says:

“I think I’m probably going to have to wear a suit every day this month so I don’t look like a scruff!”

Stephen Ludgate

Steve is very worried about this challenge. Having spent all his life keeping his face hair to a minimum, he knows his chin rug is patchy at best! (Just Google “keanu reeves patchy beard” :-( )

Steve is going to just grow his beard and hope for the best. If you can get a beard comb-over, he’ll be up for that! Steve says:

“I’m hoping the trend in beards holds me well, but I fear I may look less like Bradley Cooper and more like Bradley Wiggins!?!”

Jonathan Garrett

Jonathan can grow a beard in under a day, so doing one for charity is child’s play for him. We’re all waiting for the morning he comes in clean shaven due to an upcoming hot date..! Don’t worry Jon – chicks dig scars and beards! Jon says:

“I’ve always wanted to grow a beard but worried I’d just look untidy, now is my chance to shine”
