WordPress: Collapsing Archives

My first task at SEO-Creative was to amend a current client WordPress site. Having never really worked with WordPress but knowing its how strong it has grown over the past years I knew it wouldn’t be too hard. With a little help from Steve we were able to get the desired results.

Staffordshire builders requested that their news archives to be displayed with an animation that would hide older posts. Using the Collapsing Archives plugin via WordPress and in the style of Mark Zuckerberg “Let the hacking begin”.

The Collapsing Archives plugin in WordPress can group posts by Year and Month so your page is not overrun with updates. Other options such as; Post counters, date of post and also what everyone loves to see, ANIMATION. With the option to change the ‘expand’ icon the user is able to clean up the widget. A great feature, if your archive back dates 20 years, is that you can include and exclude specific years and categories. Not forgetting the de-bug information for those developers. Thoroughly a well laid out and user friendly plugin.

Simple amendments to the style and configuration of the widget gave the outcome we were looking for. Hopefully this ‘Hacking’ wont get me in the same trouble that Mark landed himself in.
