Next month a new film called “The Internship” is being released in cinemas, starring Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson. The film is based around two sale people that have been forced into the digital age, and despite their lifetime of sales experience end up as interns at … Google.
To quote directly from the film:
“You got us a job at Google!?
No, it’s an interview for an internship that could lead to a job.”
The chemistry between Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson is undeniable, as seen in past films such as the Wedding Crashers, so there will be a lot to like about this film. The trailer itself also looks very amusing albeit perhaps a little bit formulaic; I’m pretty sure you can guess exactly how the film is going to go, but of course I could be wrong.
Although the film has received a lot of positivity initially, there has also been quite a lot of criticism too. Many believe that this is in fact just an extended advert for Google, which has been heavily involved including researching locations, offices, you name it to try and improve the appearance of it’s brand. On top of this, there has been some negativity on the overly stereotypical characters. This includes the chauvinistic out of touch sales guys played by the two leading actors, the super geeky genius, the workaholic business woman and many more.
It will be interesting to see what the full film is like (you can see the trailer above), and my only hope is that we haven’t seen all the funny bits in the trailer like most recent comedies!
