SEO is made up of on page and off page optimisation, part of your off page optimisation is link building, but how do you get links to your website?
A one way link is a link that connects to your site from another website, this link is not recipricated as you do not have a link back to there website. This link is a recommendation from the other website and will direct users, search engines and pass on strength from the website to yours. Search engines such as Google measure link popularity as a factor to rate the success or importance of a website. Google uses the quality and quantity of one way links to determine it’s Page Rank and this can contribute to your positions in the SERPs.
Different websites pass on different strenth, this is similar to getting a recommendation from a collegue for a new job, the recommendation is good but a recommendation from the CEO would be more powerful. The more links, and recommendations you have to your site the better and links from powerful relevant sites is even better.
The problem is people are a bit more web savvy, and your competitors will not just give you a link. Many people ask for recipricol links but these are pretty much just cancelled out as you are passing the strength back and forth.
So how do you get links?
The old fashioned way is to pick up the phone and contact webmasters but this can be timeconsuming and take a long time with little results.
Here are a few good ways of generating inbound links to your website:
